TODAY IS ARMED FORCES DAY! Armed Forces Day is a day to pay tribute to the men and women who serve the United States Armed Forces. Armed Forces Day, which is celebrated on the third Saturday in May, is part of Armed Forces Week. It was with the idea for citizens to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country that President Harry S. Truman led the effort to establish this single holiday. The one-day celebration then stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under the Department of Defense. It was on August 31, 1949, that Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to replace separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard and Air Force Days. Today, please thank those you know who serve our country in one of the above branches. We have many in our congregation. #ArmedForcesDay

Attention, SPC family! The City of Albuquerque and New Mexico Prays are sponsoring a week of city-wide volunteer projects to serve our hometown! Love ABQ will occur June 15-22. The city is setting up many projects for which to volunteer that week. In addition, church groups are encouraged to develop projects to include in the effort. The projects can include any sort of service including building ramps for handicapped citizens, volunteering at the National Senior Games to be held that week, park and school cleanups, serving meals at homeless shelters - whatever you can imagine. The SPC Missions team is working on developing some potential projects with our partner organizations. Alternatively, if you have a great idea for a project that could be done that week, the Mission team is available to provide logistical and financial support. Check out the Love ABQ website below; they will be adding volunteer projects over the next few weeks. Also check out the promotional video from New Mexico Prays and Mayor Tim Keller in the comment below. If you have any questions, thoughts, or ideas, please contact Steve Sobolik or Jeff Pearson. https://www.loveabq.com/
Hello, SPC family! We have several flats of plants left after yesterday's plant sale! If you weren't able to come by the church to get anything for your garden, there's still time! Our goal is to not have to return any plants to East Central Ministries! All plants are currently $4.50. Petunia baskets are $30. And the ollas that are left are $20 for the medium-sized ones and $30 for the large ones. All proceeds from plant and olla sales are split between two awesome ministries...East Central Ministries and our 2019 Youth Mission team headed to San Franciso, CA! Have questions? Please contact Halecia at 505-856-5040 or at [email protected].

We created this video "A Christmas Story: What do you bring Jesus for his Birthday?" for our Christmas Eve services and showed it in 4 segments, but here it is in it's entirety. This Christmas and all year long, GIVE of yourself! Give others your love, your prayers, your time, your attention, your care. Love Him by loving your neighbor!
